Legendary Engrams (Purple Engrams) are Legendary Engrams dropped by defeated enemies or purchased from Cryptarch. There are 9 weapon Legendary Engrams, one for each type of weapon. There are 7 Armor Legendary Engrams, one for each armor slot and another 3 for the bonds, marks and capes.

Data showed that a Legendary Engram will yield a Legendary (purple) rarity item about 35% of time. The Engram will yield Rare (purple) rarity item about 60% of the time. It will yield Uncommon (green) rarity items about 3.5% of the time. The Engram will grant Exotic (Gold) rarity items about 1-2% of the time.
