The Awoken was created when The Darkness attacked The Traveler. Following The Darkness' colossal offensive, the humans wilted against the devastation. A few humans survived, fortunate enough to avoid demise. Most people were wiped out as soon as the attacks began. Few others were able to get away from the onslaught of The Darkness, but merely. People who were able to escape from the Darkness but were afflicted with it became the the Awoken.
