Armor are gear items that can be equipped to increase defense, stats and light of the player. Armor are categorized into 5 slots. Helmets, Chest Armor, Gauntlets and Leg Armor increase stats and attributes while Class Armor is merely cosmetic.

Exotic armor from the initial release and older expansions can be "updated" by Xûr. This will reset the armor to 0 XP, and increase its stats to match the current version. Doing so costs a few thousand glimmer and 1 exotic shard.
