Ascendant Shard is a Legendary Material. It is used to Upgrade Defense for Legendary and Exotic Armor.

• Ascendant Shard's Upgrade Damage counterpart is Ascendant Energy.

Obtained By

• Awarded for getting Gold medal rank in Public Event. You are only guaranteed to obtain a Ascendant Energy or Ascendant Shard once per day. The reward is mailed to your Postmaster. Additional Gold medal completions of Public Event has a small chance of granting a Ascendant Shard.

• Dismantling Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor. Note that if un-leveled Legendary and Exotic weapons yield 2-3 shards each. Fully leveled weapons yield 5-6 shards each (you do not need to fully upgrade them).

• Daily Heroic Mission, the level 24 one will reward you with 1 Ascendant Shard or Energy and the level 28 one will reward you with 2.

• Weekly Nightfall Strike

• Vault of Glass

Used For

• It is a material used to unlock Upgrade Defense for Legendary and Exotic Armor. Upgrade Defense will increase the Defense and Light stats of the armor.
