Whether invis, damage, or trapping, [[Smoke]] is a powerful tool for the Nightstalker. [[Discipline]] is almost equal to Strength, choose this for a higher-damage lower-support build. However since all three grenades require non-moving targets, they are best pared with a smoke to get the full effect. Honestly I wouldn’t have this CD be lower than smokes for that reason.

Nightstalker is the void Hunter subclass that will come with The Taken King, Destiny's 3rd expansion. Nightstalker's super, Shadowshot, tethers a large group of foes to a Void Anchor, slowing and suppressing them for your Fireteam.

  • Nightstalker is the support subclass for Hunter.

Unlock

Nightstalker is unlocked after completing the Hunter quest The Nightstalker's Trail. Players can obtain the quest from Hunter Vanguard in The Tower. To unlock the quest, players need to complete prerequisite Hunter Quests.

Abilities

Shadowshot (Super) - Tether foes to a Void Anchor, slowing, weakening and suppressing them for you and your allies.

Smoke (Melee) - Throw Smoke to slow and disorient those trapped in its cloud.

Voidwall Grenade (Grenade) - Grenade explosion creates a horizontal wall of burning Void Light.

Spike Grenade (from Defender) and Vortex Grenade (from Voidwalker)

Black HoleThe Void Anchor has increased range, lasts significantly longer, and can tether more targets.
Blood BoundTethered enemies explode when killed. Damage to tethered enemies is shared to all.
QuiverFire Shadowshot up to three times. Void Anchors have reduced range.

Smoke:

 Description
EnvenomedAdds a toxin that suffocates enemies within smoke.
SnareAllows Smoke to stick to surfaces, detonating when enemies are near.
Vanish in SmokeYou and allies near Smoke explosions vanish from sight.

Double Jump:

 Description
Better ControlUpgrades Double Jump for better directional control while in air.
Higher JumpUpgrades Double Jump for even greater heights
Triple JumpUpgrades Double Jump with a third jump.

Miscellaneous Perks

Column 6:

 Description
Courage of The PackKilling tethered targets increases Recovery and Armor for you and nearby allies. Stacks up to 5 times.
Light of the PackKilling tethered targets creates Orbs of Light for your allies.
LockdownGrenade and Smoke effects last twice as long, allowing strong territory control.

Column 8:

 Description
Keen ScoutSprint and Sneak faster, gain Enhanced Tracker, and ability to mark targets you damage.
PredatorThe Void Anchors fired from Shadowshot become traps that stick to surfaces and wait for prey.
ShadestepGain an evade to avoid damage. Press O, O or B, B to evade.

Nightstalker Builds

Recommended Stats

Intellect > Strength > Discipline

  • Intellect is the main stat. Shadowshot is the defining trait of a Nightstalker, whether using it for add control, PvP kills, or the damage buff, you want to use it as often as possible. Strength is the secondary support stat, mainly a priority to get those Vanish in Smoke’s ready ASAP. Also a huge deal when running Grasps or a Control build in PvP.
