Guardians have 3 classes: Titan, Hunter and Warlock. Each class is farther divided into 3 subclasses.
Titan
- Main article: Titan
Titan is the tanky class that wears heavy armor. Titan is divided into 3 subclasses, Striker, Defender and Sunbreaker.
While Striker is a class that specializes in close-quarters combat with the devastating Fist of Havoc, Defender is a class that protects and supports its allies with a force field named Ward of Dawn.
Sunbreaker, introduced in The Taken King expansion, uses Hammer of Sol to summon a flaming hammer and wreak destruction down upon your enemies.
Hunter

Hunter is the agile class that strikes with speed and precision. Hunter is divided into 3 subclasses, Gunslinger, Bladedancer and Nightstalker.
Gunslinger is ideal for players who want to play Destiny as a standard first-person shooter while Bladedancer wrecks havoc not only from afar but also up close.
Nightstalker, introduced in The Taken King expansion, uses Stormtrance to chain arc-lightning from your hands.
