Armor are gear [[items]] that can be equipped to increase [[defense]], [[stats]] and [[light]] of the player. Armor are categorized into 5 slots. [[Helmets]], [[Chest Armor]], [[Gauntlets]] and [[Leg Armor]] increase stats and attributes while [[Class Armor]] is merely cosmetic.

Exotic armor from the initial release and older expansions can be "updated" by Xûr. This will reset the armor to 0 XP, and increase its stats to match the current version. Doing so costs a few thousand glimmer and 1 exotic shard.
